22 maart brengt Pharoahe Monch zijn nieuwe album uit, W.A.R. We Are Renegades. Vorige maand dropte Pharoahe de eerste single van W.A.R.. Het album telt 13 nummers, verwacht samenwerking met o/a.: Jill Scott, Immortal Technique, Phonte, Jean Grae, Royce Da 5’9. Daarnaast staan er producties op het album van Marco Polo, M-Phazes, Diamond D, Exile en Pharoahe Monch zelf. Zie de complete tracklist onderaan.

Pharoahe Monche laat een korte film schieten voor de track ‘Clap (One Day)’, gebaseerd op een protest tegen politiegeweld. De film is geregisseerd door Terence Nace. Er wordt o.a. door Gbenga Akinnagbe (The Wire), Kim Howard en Josiah Small geacteerd. 

Pharoahe; “Instead of protect and serve, police often escalate situations, as with the cases of Sean Bell, Oscar Grant, or Aiyana Stanley Jones, and hundreds more who fell victim to police violence. I wrote this song to express my frustration, as well as raise the question of how our communities can create safety and prevent violence, with out relying on police.”
